Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident near the 111 mile-marker of Interstate-26 westbound, near West Columbia in Lexington County on Sunday, at approximately 7:49 P.M.
According to Fisher, Mr. Clayton Wesley Barrs, 68, of West Columbia was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate-26. Mr. Barrs was pronounced dead on the scene due to the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver stopped and remained on scene.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
