Close to 1.5 million vote early in South Carolina, almost 17K vote early in West Columbia and more than 82K in Lexington County


The early voting period for the 2024 General Election in South Carolina began on Oct. 21, and ended Saturday (Nov. 2.) In that time, 1,471,663 votes were cast, according to the SC Election Commission.

In Lexington County, 82,168 early voters were cast. That was the sixth most county in the state. There are 195,587 registered voters in Lexington County.

In 2022, Lexington County recorded around 29,000 early votes and just under 562,000 voted early statewide. There are 3,451,233 registered voters in South Carolina.

Statewide, Greenville County had the highest number of early voters with around 143,400 and Charleston County was second with 139,086.

In Lexington County, around 27,500 early votes were cast at the county Voter Registration and Elections Office in Lexington. That was the highest number in the county, followed by the B Avenue Community Center in West Columbia with 16,916.

Midlands Tech Harbison Campus recorded 13,493 early votes. Chapin Town Hall recorded 8,915 early votes and the Voorhees University Education Center in Leesville recorded 9,426 early votes and Gaston Town Hall recorded 5,868.

Other South Carolina counties early voting numbers: Horry 122,570; Richland 111,475; York 99,679; and Spartanburg 81,643.
