• City of Cayce issued an update, Monday, regarding conditions in Cayce in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
• Sunday just after noon, Cayce police officers went door-to-door to inform over 100 residents in the Riverland Park neighborhood that a voluntary evacuation was being issued due to rising water levels. This impacted Riverland Park residents ONLY. We are continuing to assist these residents and ask that the public not attempt to access the area. Our Cayce staff: including but not limited to, our police and fire department, public works, wastewater and water treatment plants, and our parks department are all working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens. We do not anticipate additional evacuations; but if there are any changes, please know you will be contacted directly and in advance.
• The SCDOT does not plan to close the Blossom Street Bridge or the Gervais Street Bridge. The 12^th Street Extension near the Amazon Distribution Center remains closed due to high water levels.
• Our Cayce Riverwalk and Timmerman Trail remain closed for your safety.
• Dominion reports that as of noon on September 30, there are 235 households in Cayce without power. They also confirmed that that the Lake Murray Dam is within normal operating levels. Lake Murray feeds into the Saluda River, which joins the Broad River to converge into the Congaree River. The influx of water coming through our South Carolina river systems from western North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina is being closely monitored.
• The USGS reports that the Congaree River is at river level is at 30.53 as of noon today.
• Our Cayce drinking water is safe to drink. Cayce Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants are self-contained and not at risk due to the rising river levels. Additionally, our water and wastewater plants are not being evacuated. They are not flooded. During times of heightened concern, misinformation is easily spread. You can always find factual updates on any of our official information sources.
