Columbia Fire Department and Irmo Fire District crews responded to a house fire Friday morning at a home on Lake Murray.

Crews were dispatched to the home on Ballentine Estates Road shortly after 10:30 a.m. They arrived on the scene to find visible smoke and heavy fire in the rear of the structure.

The fire was brought under control and extinguished. The property owner was home at the time and heard smoke alarms going off and escaped. He was assessed by EMS crews on scene and did not require transport to the hospital.

There were no other injuries. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical source in the back of the home.
