2 killed in early morning 3-vehicle crash on I-26 in Lexington County, according to SCHP

Two people died in an early morning crash on I-26 West, Thursday, according to Master Trooper William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol. The collision took place at 2:45 a.m. about two miles north of Chapin.

He said a Dodge Ram pickup truck, pulling a trailer, ran into the back of a 2014 Nissan sedan. The Nissan was slowed and was behind a tractor-trailer. The Nissan was pushed into the tractor-trailer.

The driver and a passenger in the Nissan died on the scene, said Bennett. The driver and a passenger in the Dodge Ram pickup were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The interstate was closed for hours while the area was cleared and the SCHP conducted an investigation.
