Lexington County deputies have arrested a Batesburg man accused of trying to kill one person and threatening to kill another.

Jerry William Hall, Jr., 29, is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, third-degree assault and battery, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes and possession of meth, according to arrest warrants.

“Deputies were dispatched to a house on Bayonet Road Thursday night after a neighbor called 911,” Lexington County Jay Koon said. “They found the victim in the woods severely beaten.”

Witnesses told investigators over the course of nine hours, Hall assaulted the victim multiple times and locked them in the house when they attempted to escape, according to Koon.

“Investigators determined Hall punched the victim, kicked them with his steel-toed boots and restricted their airway to the point of unconsciousness,” Koon said.

When witnesses entered the house, Hall threatened to kill them as well, according to Koon.

“By the time deputies arrived on scene, Hall had left the house,” Koon said. “Deputies received information Friday that Hall was in the 100 block of Buggy Road where he was detained.”

Hall was arrested and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where he is being held after a magistrate judge denied his bond.
