Jonathan Wilburn selected as the new principal at Fulmer Middle School
A familiar face has been selected as the new leader at Fulmer Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year.
Jonathan Wilburn, who currently serves as assistant principal, has been selected as Fulmer’s new principal. His hiring was recommended by Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner and approved by the Board of Trustees at its June 20 meeting.
“Jonathan Wilburn has been an integral part of the leadership team that has made Fulmer a National School to Watch, an International Model PLC School, and a recipient of a Best Middle Schools badge from the annual US News and World Report ranking,” said Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner. “We are pleased that Mr. Wilburn will continue to push Fulmer on the trajectory for continuous improvement and will maintain the culture of excellence that the school is known for.”
Wilburn started his education career at Fulmer Middle School in 1998 as a social studies teacher and was selected as an assistant principal in 2013. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbia International University, as well as a M.Ed. and Ed.S from the University of South Carolina.
“Fulmer is a community school that values the academic and behavioral growth of students. High expectations for students and adults with the necessary support are integral to learning,” Wilburn said. “I look forward to collaborating with others and maintaining partnerships with families and the community. My goal is to continue to support families in developing students who are excellent citizens by implementing an engaging and rigorous curriculum.”
Wilburn will begin his new role July 1.
