Man who died 8 days after being hit while riding a bicycle is identified by Lexington County coroner

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a vehicle vs. bicycle accident in the 700 block of Woodtrail Drive in the Gaston area of Lexington County at approximately 2:31 P.M. on May 9.

According to Fisher, Mr. Diego Federico Suarez-Pelaez, 59, of Gaston was riding his bicycle on
Woodtrail Drive when he was struck by a vehicle. Mr. Suarez-Pelaez was transported to an area hospital
where he was pronounced dead on May 17, due to the injuries he sustained in the collision.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the
incident.
