Cayce-West Columbia Chamber celebrating Small Business Week with events, including annual C-WC golf tournament on Thursday
Tim James, president and CEO of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, said several events are taking place this week in celebration of Small Business Week, and some are extending into the Month of May.
Small Business Week has been celebrated for over 60 years, acknowledging the contributions of small business owners nationwide, and more specifically those those small businesses in our very own community.
This year Small Business Week takes place April 28 – May 4, with the Greater CWC Chamber recognizing community businesses via social media, as well as kicking off the week with a training session led by the SC Small Business Development Center on Monday.
On Tuesday, Board members of the Chamber will join others throughout the state to meet on the statehouse grounds to promote our members. The annual CWC golf tournament will occur on Thursday, when over 200 business professionals will come together to raise money for Chamber initiatives to support the economy.
Some fun facts about Small Business, – there are 30.2 small businesses in the United States, comprising 99 percent of all US Businesses nationwide. In South Carolina, there are 419,000 Small Businesses, which is 99.4% of the overall businesses, employing more that 839,000 people, which is 42% of those employed in SC.
The CWC Chamber of Commerce membership reflects that 74% are small businesses. – we are so happy to help advocate and educate our members, and the wonderful partnership we see among our small and large businesses are a fine example of how we assist one another and create win-win scenarios.
