There were three speakers on a panel at the e Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfast, Tuesday, at Stone River in West Columbia.

The topic was collaboration between Chambers and the speakers were:

• Angelle LaBorde, President & CEO of The Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center,
• Carl Blackstone, President & CEO of the Columbia Chamber
• Tim James, President & CEO of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber & Visitors Program.

LaBorde said the Chamber is not bound by county lines and it’s a wise investment to cross the county lines and for chamber’s to work together.

James said chamber’s must cross jurisdictional lines to get things done.

Blackstone chronicled the positive economic impact Fort Jackson in Richland County has on Richland and Lexington counties. James said 40 percent of the employees at Fort Jackson live in Lexington County and 20 percent of all flights out of Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Cayce come from Fort Jackson.

Blackstone said counties and chamber’s need to work together to address pressing legislative issues including tort reform and the cost of liability insurance for businesses that serve alcohol.
