Lexington Police investigated a collision on Augusta Road (US-1) at Dooley Road, Saturday afternoon. One outbound lane was was closed for a while as a result of the crash. Traffic was routed around the scene and that caused heavy congestion. One person was transported from the scene by EMS with injuries.

The collision was caused by a driver making an improper turn across lanes of traffic. The driver was attempting to go around road barriers, installed to prevent the left turn. The truck with trailer struck the other involved vehicle which was traveling in the opposing lane. The at-fault driver was issued a citation for the improper turn. (LPD photos)
