1 person dead, 3 injured, after multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning that shut down I-20
A person who was attempting to reattach a trailer that came loose from a 2020 Dodge Ram was killed on I-20 Wednesday. The incident occurred in the eastbound lane of I-20 near Mile Marker 61 around 9:45 a.m., according to Master Trooper William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol.
There were 3 vehicles and a trailer involved. Bennett said two people were trying to reattach a trailer that came loose from a 2020 Dodge Ram when a 2017 Jeep Cherokee changed lanes to avoid the trailer. A 1998 Dodge Ram then hit the Jeep, said Bennett, and the jeep hit the trailer, killing one person trying to reattach it. Another person was also hit and taken to the hospital. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee and the 1998 Doge Ram were also taken to the hospital, said Bennett.
The crash resulted in the closing of I-20 and the diverting of traffic for about 2 hours, Wednesday.
The name of the deceased has not been released by the Lexington County Corner yet.
