During its regularly scheduled February board meeting, the Lexington County School District Four Board of Trustees (“the Board”) unanimously voted (7-0) in favor of Dr. Justin Nutter to serve as Superintendent beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Lynne Fallaw, Chair of the Board, presided over the meeting and extended her congratulations to Dr. Nutter, thanking him for his commitment to the District for twenty-nine (29) years.

Before naming Dr. Nutter as Superintendent, the Board considered various options, including conducting a search, but ultimately believed that Dr. Nutter’s qualifications and the cost savings of choosing internally served the best interests of the students and community. Dr. Nutter’s qualifications and experience within the District will be tremendous assets for his continued service to the District. More specifically, the Board believes that the community and its culture are essential. Dr. Nutter, who has spent his entire career in Lexington Four, will continue to build relationships and continue the culture in the right way.

Dr. Nutter has served as Associate Superintendent for the District since 2016, including a stint as Interim Superintendent in 2018-2019. Before his work at the District level, Dr. Nutter was a Principal for a total of thirteen (13) years between Sandhills Middle School and Sandhills Intermediate School. Prior to his Principalship, he taught for five (5) years within the District before becoming an Assistant Principal.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Maddox, who last month announced he would be retiring at the end of this school year, voiced his congratulations and full support of Dr. Nutter’s appointment as the District’s Superintendent. Dr. Maddox and Dr. Nutter have worked hand in hand over the years, and Dr. Maddox shared his confidence in Dr. Nutter’s ability to be the leader that the students, staff, and community deserve. “I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity to continue serving our Lexington Four family,” Dr. Nutter shared. “Each of our students, parents, faculty, and staff is valued and important to our collective success! Our team has been blessed with Dr. Maddox’s leadership and we look forward to continuing to help our students succeed.” Dr. Maddox will immediately begin working with Dr. Nutter to ensure a smooth transition and continuation of steadfast leadership.
