Almost 200 new homes planned for Springdale
The Town of Springdale is growing by 189 new homes, said Springdale Mayor Michael Bishop.
The new community will be named Roof’s Pond. The builders in Roof’s Pond will be Stanley Martin Homes (that used to be Essex Homes) and Great Southern Homes. The property where the new houses are going is across from Plantation Parrish. It is being cleared now.
Developers said logging activities should conclude this week and subdivision infrastructure construction should begin the week of Feb. 22. Home construction is anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021 or the first quarter of 2022.
Springdale Town Administrator Ashley Watkins said the homes will be built on 63 acres in an area bordered by Ermine Road, Platt Springs Road and Wattling Road. There will be six common areas in the community.
“The houses will be built in three phases,” Watkins said, “with around 60 houses built in each phase.” The first phase will begin on Ermine Road with the development of 62 lots. Watkins also said house hunters have already begun to call and inquire about buying a home in the community.
The final designs on entrance and homesite landscaping have not been released yet. Springdale’s current population is more than 2,700.
