West Columbia teen and man from Virginia died in Triangle City crash involving felony DUI
Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher, has identified the two people who died in a
multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of 12th Street and B Avenue in the West Columbia
area of Lexington County at approximately 7:30 p.m., Friday.
According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Cornelius Alexander Clory, 68, of Ruther Glen, Virginia
was stopped at B Avenue when his vehicle was struck from behind. Mr. Clory and the rear
passenger in the vehicle, Ms. Leeya Janae Leaverette, 17, of West Columbia were
pronounced dead on scene due to the injuries sustained in the collision.
The front
passenger of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening
injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with minor
injuries and has since been charged with DUI.
The West Columbia Police Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue
to investigate the incident.
