Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher, has identified the individual who died in a
single-vehicle collision in the 400 block of Gardner’s Terrace Road in the West Columbia
area of Lexington County at approximately 12:58 a.m. Saturday

According to Fisher, Mr. Marvin James Gilpatrick Jr., 60, of Gaston was traveling
southbound on Gardner’s Terrace Road when his vehicle traveled left off the roadway,
striking two culverts, and overturning. Mr. Gilpatrick, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the
time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the
collision.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to
investigate the incident.
