3-car crash in Lexington results in blocked lanes and traffic jam
First responders arrived on the scene of a three-car accident about 12:15 p.m., Thursday. The crash occurred on Sunset Blvd. (US-378) at Mineral Springs Road. Lexington asked that drivers avoid the area if possible.
Around 2:30 p.m., Lexington Police reported all lanes of Sunset Blvd have reopened after the collision was cleared from the road.
Police also said: “The investigation is still ongoing but appears to have been caused by a driver who had a medical incident and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle struck another vehicle and both left the roadway, hitting a third vehicle in a nearby business parking lot.”
All inbound traffic on Sunset Blvd. was detoured to Hope Ferry Road. Drivers can take Corley Mill Road to North Lake Drive (SC-6) back to US-378. Outbound traffic on Sunset Blvd. was being merged into a single lane around the wreck scene.
Traffic on Mineral Springs Road could only make a right turn onto Sunset Blvd. No left turns until the road reopened.
