Riverbank Elementary after-school soccer skills program concludes with Skills Demonstration Day
Local businesses pitched in to support the soccer learning program at Riverbank Elementary School. Supporters include House of Raeford’s FLOCK, which paid for bus transportation for participants, and Bank of America, which sends 4-5 mentors each week to talk to and work with the kids. The program has about 102 participants in 1st through 5th grades.
The “skills demonstration” day, was held Thursday and it was the conclusion of this session of the program. West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles attended, along with with Riverbank Elementary School SRO India Taylor and Northside Middle School SRO William Kaiser. Lexington Two School Board member Beth Branam was there too.
The event was held at Northside Middle’s soccer field adjacent to Riverbank Elementary in West Columbia.
The after-school program was about learning soccer, but also about getting to kids at an early age to help build confidence, resiliency, and positive interactions with fellow students and adults alike.
