Space heater causes fire in Lexington
Lexington County Fire Service units responded to a house fire around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2 in the 2500 block of S. Lake Drive, Lexington. When units arrived on the scene, the home was already heavily involved. No injuries were reported. One person was displaced as a result of the fire and the Red Cross is assisting that person. Fire officials say a space heater was the cause of the fire.
If you are using a space heater, please make sure the heater is at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn, and make sure your heater has an auto-shutoff feature so the heater turns off if it tips over. For other space heater safety tips, visit www.nfpa.org (LCFS Photo)
