Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is releasing the identity of the diver who was recovered by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources from Lake Murray at approximately 10:30
a.m. on Sunday (Jan 1) in Lexington County.

According to Fisher, Mr. Paul Lloyd Lunsford, 54, of Chapin was recovered from Lake
Murray. Mr. Lunsford entered the water near the Lake Murray Towers while on a diving excursion
on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at approximately 1 p.m. and he did not resurface prompting a
search to begin shortly after.

An autopsy has been scheduled at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC on Wednesday, January 4.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office
continue to investigate the incident.
