I-77 bridge repair in Lexington County scheduled to begin in March

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will begin the repair of several bridges on I-77 in Lexington County on March 10. The repair effort will result in the closing of exits and entrances to I-77 for extended periods of time. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May 22.

It will start where I-77 and I-26 meet in Cayce and run through mile marker 5, which is the Bluff Road exit.

SCDOT closed the far right lane of I-77 Southbound from mile marker 3.5 (Congaree River) to mile marker 2 (Exit 2/SC-35/Cayce/West Columbia) last March to repair potholes.

The top portions of the bridge deck will be removed and replaced with an overlay of concrete.
In all, 14 bridges in all will be repaired. Six of those bridges will be in the northbound lane and 8 bridge will be southbound.
