Lexington County voters rejected a Capital Project Sales Tax. It would have imposed a one-percent sales and use tax, with the proceeds funding road repair, paving and bridge repair.
The vote lost 45.35% (or 43,347 votes for) to 54.65% (or 52,245 votes) against.
The SC Dept. of Revenue estimated that $536 million would have been collected by the CPST over the eight years it was scheduled to be in effect.
