There’s going to be a new Cayce Riverwalk mural. It will be under the Blossom Street Bridge, where the Steamship painting has been for years. Artist Joel Cathran, who grew up in the area, will paint the mural. He has another mural on State Street in Cayce.

The Cayce Beautification Foundation revealed the mural’s design last Wednesday during an outdoor, farm-to-table dinner. The dinner was a fundraiser, held near the historic brick kilns not far from the Congaree River. Cayce Mayor Elise Partin helped start the foundation in 2009.

Artist Joel Cathran, who has another mural on State Street in Cayce, was chosen for the job. It is expected to cost $10,000.

The mural should be finished by the beginning of next year.
