The Columbia Lions Club donated a plastic composite bench for Guignard Park in Cayce, Wednesday.

Lions Club President Winn Fitzgerald said the bench was made by Trex (Trex Composite Decking) from recycled materials. Trex made the chair after the Lions Club gave them 500 pounds of recyclables that went into the chair. “We collected 500 pounds of plastics that are typically not recyclable, Including plastic shopping bags, bubble wrap, and shipping bubbles,” Fitzgerald said.

Lion Brad Giles said the club – formerly known as the New Brookland Lions – donated playground equpment to Guignard Park in 2008.

Cayce Mayor thanked the Lions for the donation and she posed with city staff members and Lions Club members.
