Taylor Watford Golf Tournament results in thousands raised to fight drug overdose deaths
A record amount was raised at the 4th Annual Taylor Watford Foundation Hope Cup Golf Tournament. The fundraising event was played last Thursday at the Golden Hills Golf and Country Club in Lexington and featured a steak lunch for the participants.
“The golf tournament raised $17,000,” said Jade Watford, a tournament organizer. “That’s about $4,000 more than we raised last year.”
The tournament is played in memory of Taylor Watford who lost his life to an overdose in late 2018. His family started the foundation in an effort to fight drug overdose deaths.
“Thanks to the Watford Family for their passion and courage to start this foundation in the midst of loosing their precious son, Taylor,” said TWF Board Member Roberta Vining. “Thank you for not giving up and for motivating others to keep going. What a selfless way to turn a tragedy into hope for others.”
