It seemed as President Donald Trump was headed for reelection, Tuesday night, when vote counting abruptly stopped in several states.

Trump, a Republican, was ahead of challenger and former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democrat, in five states, when the counting stopped. Trump leads in Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. He was also leading in Wisconsin over night, but Biden moved ahead overnight after counting slowed.

In Pennsylvania Trump was ahead by nearly 700,000 votes.
In Michigan Trump was ahead by over 300,000 votes.
In Wisconsin Trump was ahead by 120,000 votes, then the count resumed, and more votes being to be tallied for Biden. Trump later said he did win and indicated he plans to go to the Supreme Court.

Trump said:, “This is a fraud on the American public. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we won this election. This is a major fraud on the election. So we will be going to the US Supreme Court. We want all of the voting to stop. We don’t want them to find any votes at 4 in the morning. We will win this and as far as I am concerned we already won.”

The electoral votes in the states where Trump is comfortably ahead would give Trump more than the 270 that he needs to be declared president. But after midnight the counting abruptly stopped. Media outlets also failed to call races for Trump where he led in many states.

Biden said he thinks he will win the presidency despite being behind in the count in four states.
