The city has commissioned a series of videos that detail the good things that are going on. There is a welcoming video, and the titles range from: Parks and Recreation and Shopping and Dining to Quality of Life and Community Organizations.

West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles opens the “Welcome” video.

“We’ve had an incredible  period  of regrowth and redevelopment in West Columbia over the past six years,” said Miles. He then encourages viewers to “head west.” and check out the city. Click for video link

When the videos were released, Miles said, “West Columbia’s video tour is a great place for those looking to move to our great city and to learn more about how we are the best place to establish a family, retire, or just vacation for the weekend.”

The five community-promoting videos, produced by CGI Communications, are around a minute long and present scenes from around town, as a narrator promotes West Columbia.

The Parks and recreation video shows the natural beauty of Riverwalk, the amphitheatre and Carraway Children’s Park.

Also promoted are the tennis courts at Reeves Park on Augusta Street; the basketball courts at Butler Park on Raleigh Street; and the artwork in Interactive Art Park on Meeting Street. Click for video link 

West Columbia also has a bike lane on B Avenue, with bicycle repair stations all around town.

There is an entrance to Riverbanks Zoo, off of Mohawk Drive, in West Columbia. There you can zipline across the Saluda River and enjoy Waterfall Junction.

Also featured are the city’s art, antique and eclectic shops in The River District of State and Meeting streets, along with WECO Biergarten and Savage Craft Ale Works. Entertainment venues Chayze Lounge and The Comedy Closet are included, too.

In Triangle City, the narrator promotes the furniture shops, music and jewelry stores. Zesto, and the giant ice cream cone, is of course presented.  

The video next demonstrates the bustling corridor of commerce on Augusta Road, and the restaurants on Sunset Boulevard, Triangle City and State Street.

Located on the Congaree River, the narrator intones, West Columbia exudes the charm of a small town, with tree-lined streets, quaint shops and friendly people. West Columbia also  has a home for everyone, from young professionals, to newlyweds, and retirees.

Several of the city’s neighborhoods, which cover a diversity of housing choices, are featured in the video. Those include The Avenues and Brookland, along with the upper-scale enclaves of Congaree Downs and River’s Edge.

Lexington Medical Center is also featured for the top-level healthcare it offers and Lexington Two schools are ranked among the state’s best. There are great charter school options, too.

East Point Academy is a tuition free public charter school in West Columbia, offering  four-year-old kindergarten through eighth grade, with bilingual (Chinese) language. East Point accepts students from any school district in South Carolina. 

Gray Collegiate Academy is a tuition-free public charter high school in West Columbia, focused on dual enrollment for college credit and elite athletics.  

In West Columbia, community organizations like the West Columbia Beautification Foundation, are valuable, and improve the quality of life.
