Another Lexington County school district going to 4-day, in-person classes
Another Lexington County School District is going to more in-person classes.
Lexington-Richland School District Five will transition to a 4-day in-person schedule for students. Lexington School District One begins the move to four-day a week, in person classes, Monday.
Lexington School District Two still only offers a hybrid schedule, allowing for in-person classes only two-days a week.
Lexington Five’s move to offer more in-person instruction comes after parents rallied at the district office to open schools that had only offered two-day a week, in-person classes.
The transition will take place in three phases. First 4K-through-second grade students will begin attending school four days a week, on Oct. 5.
Students in grades 3-throught -6 will begin attending school four days a week on Oct. 19. Students in grades 7-through-12 will begin attending school four days a week beginning on Nov. 9.
Wednesday will remain a virtual learning day for students who attend in-person. The change was announced during a school Board meeting, Monday. The district’s Flexible Innovative Virtual Education (FIVE) virtual option will continue.
All four-year-old preschool programs will return to a full day program on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Three-year-old programs will continue with half day programming, as this is their typical schedule.
