Gervais Street Bridge Dinner postponed until March 2021
The Gervais Street Bridge Dinner has been postponed until March 2021. It was scheduled for Oct. 18, but because of concerns related to the coronavirus, the date has been moved.
With the change, there will be two Bridge Dinners scheduled for 2021. The one in March and another on the traditional date in October.
In June it was announced that ownership of the Gervais Street Bridge Dinner had been transferred from Soda City Friends to a new nonprofit, Carolina Together.
At the time of the announcement, preparations had already started for the dinner. The City of West Columbia had welcomed an October date for the Bridge Dinner this year, but officials in the City of Columbia were not as decisive as plans were being made, so the date was moved.
The Gervais Street Bridge Dinner is an annual seated sunset Sunday supper on the Columbia region’s most iconic landmark, featuring live music, vibrant artists, and a three-course dinner with cocktails, beer, and wine. It has become the marquee event for the Columbia Metropolitan area — guests attend from near and far
The sole purpose of Carolina Together is to manage and maintain premier fundraising events for the community. In its first five years, the 1200+ person event has resulted in the donation of more than $250,000 to local charities.
