Craig Kirby, of Cayce’s American Engineering Consultants, receives Engineer of the Year Award

American Engineering Consultants, Inc. has announced that Project Engineer, Craig Kirby has been awarded the 2020 South Carolina Water Environment Association’s State Engineer of the Year Award.

Mr. Kirby is a 23-year veteran in the field of engineering. He has been employed with American Engineering Consultants, Inc. for 21 years and has long been established as a respected leading voice of technical expertise within our firm.

As a South Carolina registered professional engineer, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, both from the University of South Carolina.  He has earned tremendous respect within his field and from our clients due to his dedication to innovative and creative designs and strong technical knowledge,

Craig has been heavily involved in multiple municipal and private projects. His experience includes design and analysis of water and wastewater treatment plant unit processes, site design, design of water and wastewater distribution/collection systems and pumping stations, hydraulic analysis and modeling of municipal water and sewer systems, design of storm water collection systems and detention ponds, and air pollution modeling.  Craig specializes in the field of environmental and water resources engineering.

Craig has been at the forefront of several state-of-the-art projects, which earned our firm multiple state and national awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and the SC Municipal Association. 

These include design of a 25 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant and a 9.6 MGD Water Treatment Plant.  Craig was instrumental in designing a membrane system for the City of Cayce’s Wastewater Treatment Plant that was the largest of its kind in the world at the time. He has also played a key role in many other awards received for achievements in the field, such as the 2019 Municipal Achievement Award for Public Works from the SC Municipal Association for the City of Cayce’s 262,000 LF Waterline Replacement Project.
