A bicyclist died, Sunday, after a collision with an SUV on Fish Hatchery Road near Suzanne Court in Lexington County.

The accident occurred around 12:35 p.m., about a mile south of Gaston, according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Tidwell said a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling south on Fish Hatchery Road. The person on the bicycle was, in the grass, traveling south on the northbound side of Fish Hatchery Road. The Equinox traveled left of the center of the road and then ran off the left side of the road, hitting the bicyclist and then running into three fences.

The driver of the Equinox was the only person in the vehicle, and was not injured, according to Tidwell.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
