West Columbia restaurants support us, make sure to support local businesses – Restaurant list and photos

Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill of West Columbia donated a meal to the West Columbia Fire Department

Many West Columbia restaurants are offering pick-up and/or delivery service, even if they are not open for seated service during the coronavirus crisis.

“I encourage folks to support our businesses in this time of crisis, in any way you can,” said West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles. “I order from local restaurants as often as I can. Let’s keep them going.”

Mary and I.D. Hook of West Columbia are setting an example of how to help the restaurant industry and front-line healthcare personnel in West Columbia.

Shamekka and the Family Dollar on Sunset Blvd. donated hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and Lysol

“We’re providing 170 meals, delivered from Gercian Gardens to the doctors, nurses and assistants at Lexington Medical Center,” said Mary Hook. GoForth Ministries of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church is donating the meals to help a local restaurant and show support for the hospital. The food will be delivered at noon Thursday.

The meals are for three of the hospital’s floors and the emergency room staff and those working in critical and intensive care.

Thomas Tafel, LMC’s Community Outreach Manager, said the hospital appreciates the effort toward Grecian Gardens and the healthcare community. Tafel is also the Board President of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s great to see the community come together,” he said. He also expressed the need to buy from local small businesses amid the coronaviris crisis.

“Small businesses support us,” said Tafel. “It’s time to turn around and show the love for them. We need to make sure they survive.”

Miles noted that despite the fact that many residents are obliged to stay home, City of West Columbia personnel are still on the job. That includes the West Columbia Police Department and the West Columbia Fire Department.

And despite the fact that many West Columbia restaurants, and their owners, are struggling with COVID-19 restrictions, they still give.
