Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred in the 600 block of Old Lexington Road, Leesville, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Tuesday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Peter W. Chavis, 45, of Batesburg was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.  Mr. Chavis, who was traveling southbound, left the right side of the road, lost control of his motorcycle, and struck a tree.  He was not wearing a helmet.

The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
