Lexington Medical Center is changing its Emergency Room procedure to deal with possible coronavirus, or COVID-19, cases.
LMC has created an emergency department at the West Columbia
hospital for people who come to the ER with respiratory symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Those are symptoms related to the coronavirus.
Those patients will be screened in a designated tent area outside of the entrance. The hospital is handling the possible coronavirus-related cases seperetly out of an abundance of caution.
The hospital treated one patient over the weekend who is a presumptive positive coronavirus case. That person is isolated at home.
