Joe Biden wins primary, Bernie Sanders results are better in Lexington County
Joe Biden won the South Carolina Democratic presidential primary, Saturday, by a wide margin. But he did not do as well in Lexington County as he did statewide.
Statewide, former Vice President Biden received 48.5 percent of the vote and Sanders, a Vermont senator, was second with 20 percent.
Tom Steyer. who ended his campaign Saturday, was third with 11.3 percent. Pete Buttigieg finished with 8 percent and Elizabeth Warren got 7 percent of the vote.
In Lexington County, Biden received 39.9 percent or 9,692 votes. Bernie Sanders got 23.6 percent or 5,738 votes.
In Richland County Biden received 51.9 percent and 30,040 votes. Sanders got 17.70 percent and 10,218 votes. Tom Steyer got 12.3 percent in Richland County and 11.6 percent in Lexington County.
