More information regarding the death of 6-year-old Faye Swetlik was conveyed at a Friday press conference. She was found dead Thursday, after she went missing, Monday afternoon.

Sgt. Evan Antley, of the Cayce Department of Public Safety, said critical evidence was found in a trash can at 602 Picadilly Square in Churchill Heights.

The evidence discovered narrowed down an area for investigators to look at. It was an area that had been searched before. But investigators went back and looked for more evidence.

A male who was also found dead was identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as Coty Scott Taylor, 30. of 602 Piccadilly Square. She said her office expects to find out the cause of his death after an autopsy on Saturday.

Cayce DPS Director Byron Snellgrove located the body of Faye, said Antley. Investigators don’t believe Faye’s body had been where it was found for very long. Faye was found in a wooded area by her residence and the NAPA Auto Parts store near her house. Taylor’s body  was located at his residence.

Just moments after Faye was found, police located the deceased Coty Taylor at 602 Piccadilly Square. Taylor had no criminal record, according to Antley. He had been interviewed, and police had been in his home, before his death.

Evidence does link Taylor to Faye, said Antley. He was a neighbor. Antley also said there is no reason to believe there is a threat. The DPS is not seeking anyone else in connection to Faye’s death, at this time.

The investigation of the case is still open, said Antley. And police are making sure there is no one else involved.
