Investigators still processing evidence in Faye Swetnik homicide

The investigation is still ongoing.

When Cayce Department of Public Safety Chief Director Byron Snellgrove announced Thursday that the body Faye Swetlik had been found, he also said the body of an adult male has also been recovered.

Snellgrove said: “it is with extremely heavy hearts we announce we have found the body of Faye Marie Swetlik.”

Other than than saying a male had been found, too, Snellgrove said there is no danger to the community- in other words: a killer is not on the loose, and the Cayce DPS is now conducting a homicide investigation.

A Cayce DPS Facebook post reads: “We would like to remind you that our investigators are processing a large amount of physical evidence. This is a highly methodical process, so please bear with us as we will continue to communicate with you as much as possible and in the same manner for which you have become accustomed.”

The Cayce DPS is asking for information that can help the investigation. The tip line is at (803) 205-4444.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Faye was found in the neighborhood around 11 a.m. An autopsy will be performed on her on Saturday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
