Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell, of the S.C. Highway Patrol, is reporting a fatal collision. It occurred around 9:10 p.m., Wednesday, in Gilbert on Peach Festival Road near Waters Ferry Road.

Tidwell said the driver of a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle attempted to slow down for traffic. The rider “spilled the bike” hitting the pavement. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet, said Tidwell. The rider was taken to the hospital and died early Thursday morning.
