West Columbia Walmart reopened after transformer fire

Walmart West Columbia – Augusta Rd was closed by the West Columbia Fire Department for precautionary measures.
The closing of the store was reported via Facebook post by Walmart after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
WCFD Deputy Chief and Public Information Officer Marquis Solomon said there was a fire at a transformer outside, behind the store. Solomon said Dominion Energy was called to the scene to repair the transformer. The WCFD had cleared the store for reopening.
On Facebook, Walmart announced it would post an update when the store reopened. As of 1 p.m. the store had not announced it had reopened.
