Woman accused of abusing a vulnerable adult
A Yemassee woman responsible for the welfare of a bedridden man is accused of abusing him while caring for him at his Chapin home, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
Janet Faye Allan, 69, has been charged with five counts of abuse of a vulnerable adult. The charges relate to five incidents dating back to June, according to arrest warrants.
“Detectives have gathered evidence of Allan striking the 77-year-old man with her hand while she tried to feed him,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Investigators also said Allan struck the man to prevent him from getting out of his bed.”
The man is expected to recover from injuries to his face, arms and leg, according to Koon.
Allan was arrested Monday and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
