The October full moon was also a Hunter’s Moon. It rose Sunday night and reached fullness at 5:08 p.m. These photos were taken in West Columbia, near Lexington. Over Northside Middle School. 

The Hunter’s Moon is the full moon following the Harvest Moon. It’s also the closest full moon to the fall equinox.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the Hunter’s Moon is the best time to hunt game. It was named at a time when hunting for food to feed the family was more commonplace than it is now.
