Lexington Two schools will be closed Thursday
Due to forecasts of high winds and possible tropical storm force gusts associated with Hurricane Dorian that could make school bus travel hazardous, Lexington Two schools and administrative offices will be closed Thursday, September 5.
All afternoon and evening activities are cancelled for Thursday, including athletic events, extracurricular activities, after-school programs and adult education classes.
The decision to close schools was made after wind forecast discussions with weather officials, and county and state emergency management officials.
The latest National Weather Service forecast includes expected wind gusts at various times throughout the school day that will likely exceed safe school bus operation guidelines.
The safety of our students and employees is a top priority. The district expects to reopen schools and offices on Friday, September 6, but we will continue to monitor weather conditions and consult with local officials. Lexington Two families will receive updates by phone, email, and district and school websites and social media. Watch local media for storm-related updates as well.
Lexington Two will use this missed day for inclement weather as an eLearning make-up day this fall. Lexington Two families will be hearing more about how this make-up day will work in coming weeks.
