A fatal crash has closed I-26, all westbound lanes near Orangeburg, at the 154 mile marker, according to Trooper David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol. He reported the lane closings after 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The collision involved three fatality victims, according to Jones. A child was also injured.

Jones said traffic had stopped, and the best detour is to get off at the 159 mile marker and follow US 176. He also said motorists can expect delays heading toward Columbia from Charleston.

Jones said the backup of traffic stretched from the 154 mile marker past the 147 mile marker as onlookers slowed down, and almost stopped, to take pictures.
