Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the 1800 block of Jessamine Road in Lexington Monday. The incident took place at approximately 6:15 p.m.

According to the coroner, Ronald Joseph Dasta, 71, of West Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Dasta’s vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment, which caused it to overturn and collide with a tree. Dasta was wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
