
90-year-old, and 22-year-old, killed in I-20 crash, Saturday, Lexington County Coroner identifies victims
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the two individuals who died in a two-vehicle collision near the 63-mile marker of I-20 westbound in the Columbia area of Lexington County. The crash occurred Saturday at approximately 10:30 a.m.
According to Fisher, 90-year-old Murray Kenneth Paxton of Lexington was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-20 when his vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Emery Thomas Woody of Augusta, Georgia, who was traveling westbound.
Mr. Paxton, who was wearing a seatbelt, and Mr. Woody, who was not wearing a seatbelt, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident.
