4 Lexington County school districts cancel classes for Thursday

Lexington County School District One is canceling school tomorrow, Thursday, for all students and staff in all attendance areas.

The safety of our students and staff drive our decision. Forecasters predict that Hurricane Michael will bring high wind gusts to our area on Thursday. School buses should not operate when sustained winds are at 30 miles per hour or greater or when frequent wind gusts exceed 40 miles per hour.

The district also cancels all daytime and evening meetings and events scheduled to take place at any Lexington District One school, performing arts center, field or facility. This includes all district programs, athletic practices or events, adult education classes, school or district-related meetings, events, or extra-curricular activities scheduled for tomorrow.

District officials will send parents, staff and students any further information about school closings or delays through SchoolMessenger, the district’s telephone calling system.

Parents can also get updates by following the district on Facebook or Twitter, checking the district’s website at www.lexington1.net, calling the district’s 24-hour recorded telephone message center at 803-821-1299, watching local television stations, listening to local radio stations or going to media websites.

Lexington School District Two schools and offices will be closed Thursday, due to expected inclement weather associated with Hurricane Michael. All school and district activities also are canceled Thursday. No changes are being made to Wednesday’s schedule.

Due to a forecast of high winds, potential for flash flooding and possible tornadoes that could impact our area as a result of Hurricane Michael, Lexington County School District Three’s is cancelling school and all extracurricular programs, activities and games on Thursday.

Lexington School District Four will be closed Thursday, all offices will be closed and school activities canceled.
