Three Airport High School athletes declared their intent to play their sports at the college level during a signing ceremony Thursday.

Football player Dylan Barbrey has signed with Appalachian State University. Among honors this season, he was named All-Region, selected to play in the Touchstone Energy North/South All Star Bowl, and selected as the SCFCA Palmetto Champions 4A Upper State Lineman of the Year. Dylan has completed high school and will head to Appalachian State in January.

Taylor Gooding and Camryn Turner, both Airport cheerleaders and All-Region selections, have signed with Presbyterian College. Gooding, who is Region Cheerleader of the Year, will join the college’s acrobatics and tumbling team. Presbyterian is one of roughly 15 D1 schools offering the sport. Turner signed with Presbyterian’s cheerleading team.

Coaches, teammates, fellow students, family members, and faculty and staff attended the signing ceremony, which was held in Airport’s arena.

“We are extremely proud of Dylan, Taylor and Camryn for their achievements,” Airport Athletic Director Shane Fidler said. “They have made their families and community proud by continuing the long tradition of Airport student-athletes competing at the Division 1 level. We look forward to following along as they start the next chapter in their lives.”
