2 people die Sunday as a result of traffic-related incidents, Lexington County Coroner identifies the West Columbia and Lexington victims
First fatality report – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died from the result of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident in the 800 block of Chris Drive, in West Columbia on Monday, Oct. 21, shortly before 9:30 p.m.
According to Fisher, Mrs. Heidi M. Bahrs, 49, of West Columbia was in the road when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Chris Drive. Mrs. Bahrs was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead on Sunday (Oct. 27) due to the injuries sustained in the collision. Another pedestrian was also transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver stopped on scene and called 911. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the West Columbia Police Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT continue to investigate the incident.
Second fatality report – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has also identified the person who died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Martin Neese Road and Hwy 6 in the Swansea area of Lexington County at approximately 4:58 p.m. Sunday.
According to Fisher, Mr. Marion Phillip Glymph, 68, of Lexington was traveling northbound on Martin Neese Road when he was hit in the intersection by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Hwy 6. Mr. Glymph, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead on scene from the injuries sustained in the accident. Two occupants in the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
