2 people die in Christmas Eve collision on Platt Springs Road in Lexington County

Two people were killed in a wrong-way, Christmas Eve collision on Platt Springs Road in Lexington County, according to Master Trooper Hannah Davidson of the SC Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m., Wednesday on Platt Springs Road (SC 602) near Dairy June Road.

Trooper Davidson said the two-vehicle crash resulted in two fatalities. A 2016 Cadillac SUV was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Platt Springs Road when it collided with a 2010 Ford Focus that was traveling east.

The driver and a backseat passenger in the Ford Focus died on the scene, said Davidson. A front-seat passenger in the Ford Focus was transported to the hospital with injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac SUV was also taken to the hospital with injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
