2 killed in separate accidents in Lexington County, Saturday and early Sunday morning


One person died Saturday after a collision, around 4 p.m., on Fish Hatchery Road about four miles north of Pelion, near SC 6.

A 2006 Saab sedan, with a driver from Lexington, was traveling south on Fish Hatchery Road, said Lt. Mitchell Ridgeway of the SC Highway Patrol. A 2007 Chevy van, with a driver from Pelion, traveling north, crossed the center line and hit the Saab. A passenger in the Saab was taken to the hospital and died there. The driver of the van was also taken to Lexington Medical Center.

Another fatality occurred on I-20, near mile marker 53, two miles south of Lexington, around 150 a.m. Sunday, according to Ridgeway.

A driver from Richmond, GA was heading east (the wrong way) in the westbound lane of I-20 in a 2015 Nissan sedan. The Nissan ran head-on into a 2021 SUV driven by a resident of Lexington. The driver of the the Nissan died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV was taken to Lexington Medical Center.
